About MixLess: who we are and press material

The starting point

Good mixing tools are usually expensive. Free ones often lead to an in-app purchase, or come with limits that show up in the middle of a mix. We started MixLess because neither is a good answer for people learning to mix or working on small budgets: access to good tools should be the normal case.

Free and paid, side by side

Four plugins are free for everyone and stay free. The rest are paid, at prices aimed at a working community rather than a studio budget. The order of priorities does not change with that: the community's access comes first, and the free tools get the same engineering as anything we sell.

Why the name

Mixing tends to accumulate tools. Our position is the opposite: fewer, result-focused tools that show what they are doing, so a good sound does not depend on an expensive plugin chain. The name and the minimal design language follow from that, and so does the closing line on every page: less is more.

Built with the community

We want the community involved in how these tools get built. Three ways to do that:

Beyond these, [email protected] reaches us any time. MixLess is an independent plugin brand. Serving the musician community is the reason it exists, and that does not change.

Boilerplate

MixLess™ is an independent audio DSP company. Four of its mixing tools are free for everyone: a loudness meter, a compressor, a limiter and a gain tool, for macOS (AU, VST3) and Windows (VST3). The valve stage, Less Tube, is the paid one. Every release passes over 600 automated tests, Apple's auval and pluginval at maximum strictness on both platforms, and the behaviour described on the site is measured.
